About Us
Burton’s Laundry and Drycleaning has a rare and unique story that defies the statistics of most family-run companies. According to statistics, only 15 percent of these companies survive into the third generation. Today, Burton’s is not only surviving, but thriving in its fourth generation of being family owned and operated.
Burton’s story dates back to September of 1961when Burton and Lottie Cebulski opened the original Burton’s Laundromat. It was located on the corner of Bendix and Lincolnway, and had eight dryers and 10 washers. Later in 1971, Burton and Lottie’s son Don purchased the laundromat, along with his wife Louise. They continued to acquire other laundromats, as did Don and Louise’s son David. In addition to the laundromats Dave purchased, he also bought two large complexes that featured both a laundromat and a carwash. The carwash became known as Parkwood Auto Spa which is also owned and operated by the family.
Fast forward to present day, there are now 13 Burton’s locations spread throughout South Bend, Mishawaka and Elkhart. The management and operation of the locations as well as the Parkwood Auto Spas will be handed down to David’s children Joe, Nicole and Katie in the future.
Under Burton’s current management, customer service and affordability are the key focus. Burton’s also makes a conscious effort to use eco-friendly practices in their day-to-day procedures. Their dry cleaning process uses environmentally safe solvents and most of the laundromats have high-efficiency washers that use less water. Re-usable laundry bags are sold at the laundromats and customers are encouraged to bring back and use the same wire hangers.
The community has always been a priority to Burton’s Laundry. David has a recipient of the Make a Difference Michiana Award and multiple other community awards while also serving on multiple area associations and the River Park Business Association.
